Chocolate Coated Dates with Ayurvedic Spices
I made these amazing chocolate treats the other day and they were just too good not to share! Even my fiancé Josh wanted more, knowing that they are healthy too ;)
So, below I have the ingredients and method. You can make as many or little as you please because I have given you the estimated measurements PER DATE. Take into account that dates come if all sorts of sizes so there is not accurate measures here.

Remember to have fun!
CHOCOLATE COATED DATES WITH AYURVEDIC SPICES
INGREDIENTS:
1 Fresh Date (must be fresh not dried!)
1/2-1 teaspoon of any natural nut butter, no added sugar
1 almond or any nut (dry roasted ones give a good crunch)
1-2 pieces dark chocolate OR 1 teaspoon of chic-chips; sizes vary
A pinch of Cinnamon, Cardamom, Clove & salt OR any spices
(approximately 1/2 teaspoon of EACH spice PER 12 dates)
METHOD:
Melt chocolate in bowl, on top of saucepan with simmering water
While chocolate is melting, cut each date with a slit & remove pip
Fill each date with the nut butter of your choosing
Place an almond or nut of choice in the centre of each
Close the date (it should hold well, using nut butter as glue)
Have a clean tray, lined with baking paper of sorts, ready for chocolate dipped dates to set on
Gently drop 1 or a few dates into the melted chocolate. Use a fork to remove the dates one at a time and a spoon or spatulate to catch any dripping bit of goodness (aka. chocolate)
I placed mine in the freezer so that they set quickly
I did a double layer of chocolate, but is totally optional
Store in the fridge once your layers have been completed.
LEFTOVER MELTED CHOCOLATE... READ BELOW

I like a lot of nut butter ;)
I did a double layer of chocolate but there was plenty of leftover melted chocolate so here is a #niftytrick for you....
If you don't lick the bowl clean, pour the left overs into ice trays ready for single size servings to nibble on (These can just set in the fridge rather than the freezer though)
MAKE SURE YOU GREASE THE TRAY SO THAT THEY COME OUT
TRY to limit it to one date per day... They are addictive so keep them out of direct sight to help curb the cravings lol.

This recipe is so simple to make and it's a great way to get some spiced into your diet as most spices have great healing benefits.

Be warned, you will most likely make a mess... But who doesn't like licking up chocolate pieces ;)
